Forest Explorist |
A blog by Tim A. Richards, basically fulfilling the requirements of the process document I should have been using from the beginning of this thesis project. Oh well, here it is anyways, I'll try to add everything I might have posted from first semester, and make sure I add things as I find/do them from now on. |

…he dreamt of robot cats once, you could ride in them or they could autonomously help out with various tasks. There were different levels of hardware from civilian, to industrial to military and all sorts of different roles. The had display panels for faces, and were named after different big cats depending on the role and size. The next big project is to model one in Modo or 3DS Max!
AMAZING. Robots should have no problem performing the desired actions of the forest explorist within a few years.
Made this last night, just checking out Modo’s text options.
AHHHH! So many things!!

some different colour schemes I rendered up a few nights ago for gate 2 presentations, love the tigerstripes! as a note, these took like 1.5 mins each to render out in modo, sooo good!
hours and hours of work trying to animate this tonight, for a whole 2 second clip!? fuck! need to slow this guy down and do some math on the next try so everything is even.
I just keep being more and more impressed with Modo. I had no idea the simple 3-part planar IK chains could be built up into something so complex!
cool. unfortunately $50,000
the uncanny valley effect I talked about re: explorist’s character design
Totally feeling this right now re: animating my thesis model guy thing!!
